How does a ‘walk-and-talk Therapy’ work?
'Walk-and-Talk Therapy' involves an exploration of presenting issues whilst walking outdoors in nature. Session duration is 50 minutes but can be longer if you desire (at extra cost). You are encouraged to have the initial consultation (i.e., first session) indoors/online to agree the outdoor working contract i.e., confidentiality, meeting point, chance encounters, weather limitations, risks and other related issues.
'Walk-and-Talk Therapy' might be unsuitable for some (e.g., very vulnerable) which is always explored and ascertained in the first session before formally agreeing to work outdoors. For some, it is often advisable to initially work indoors and gradually transition to outdoor work at a pace that suits you and your presenting issues.
What day of the week will I have my sessions?
We will look to agree a regular time and day every week. There is some flexibility to accommodate shift work and other restrictions which can be discussed at the initial consultation session.
How often will I have my sessions?
I work with most of my clients on a weekly basis. As mentioned above there is some flexibility in this to suit your needs.
How much will my session cost?
£60 for a standard 50-minute session
When do I have to pay?
All sessions are to be paid for in advance. Sessions not paid for in advance are considered cancelled.
How do I pay for my sessions?
You can pay via bank transfer. These details will be sent to you via email after mutually agreeing dates and timings of sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
This is individual to every client and varies. If the issues are of a more complex nature or there are multiple presenting issues, then this tends to be longer term work. If it is a simpler presenting issue and just singular, then this tends to be shorter term work of 6-12 weeks. There Is no obligation to commit to further ongoing sessions after your initial consultation.
Can I cancel my session?
Yes, you can cancel your session with 24hrs notice. If you cancel with less than 24hrs notice you will be charged full session rate. Exceptional circumstances will be taken into consideration provided they are not a repetitive pattern.
Can I bring someone along to my session?
If you have booked an Individual session, you cannot bring anyone else with you unless this has been agreed in advance between us to accommodate exceptional circumstances e.g., if you need an interpreter.
What type of therapy will I be having?
I will use integrative counselling therapy which is a combined approach using the specific theories from the psychodynamic and person-centred approaches, tailoring them to meet your specific needs.
